The .45-100 Sharps, also known as the .45-2.6", is one of the classic long-case cartridges of the American buffalo hunting era. Developed as an extended version of the .45-70 Government, its larger powder capacity was designed to deliver higher velocities and greater long-range performance, making it a favourite for hunting large game and for long-range target shooting. Today, it remains highly regarded by Black Powder Cartridge Rifle (BPCR) competitors and enthusiasts of historic Sharps and other single-shot rifles.

Suitable for both black powder and modern smokeless loads in appropriately rated firearms, the .45-100 Sharps offers exceptional versatility for traditional and modern handloaders alike. Note: Starline .45-100 brass is manufactured with additional strength to withstand the elevated pressures of modern smokeless hunting loads when used in suitable firearms. When loading with black powder, annealing the case mouth may be necessary to ensure proper chamber sealing due to the lower operating pressures generated by these loads. Starline recommends annealing the brass where appropriate to suit the intended application.
